Happy Mother’s Day to you if you’re a mom! Being a mom is a special thing that we may get the honor to experience and live.
My son will be 17 this year. I love him so much, and I love being his mom. His birthday is my favorite day. I love the person he is.
Motherhood is something that you don’t learn how to do. It is something that you live. Along the way, through all of the months and years, you learn a lot from your kid, and that’s so beautiful. Being proud of your kid is one of the best feelings, but the best part is that you get to live life with them.
I’m so grateful for my mom and my son, and I love being around them.
I’ve also learned so much from my mom. I love and adore her. I love and cherish how accommodating she is and how much she cares about the people she loves. She has always been there for me and still is, and I’ll never take that for granted.
I can talk to my son and my mom just about anything. That’s a rare thing that I’ll hold close to me forever.
Our moms and our kids shape a lot of who we are and become. We get to choose how we want to live our lives and the decisions we make while taking along and keeping in our lives what our moms and kids have taught us.
My cat is also a mom, and her story is a sweet one that will probably have you smiling. It all started a few years ago (maybe 2018) when my dear neighbor saw a cat that showed up at her door.
(Pictured: Hudson (dog, 10) also says, Hello! He’s the best, ever.)
She began giving the cat food, caring for the cat, and grew to know and love the cat. Although the cat stayed outside, she never left. She even had two separate litters of kittens and became a mom throughout the years.
I got to know the cat later on and saw her sometimes. When she had her second litter in 2023 of March, my son asked me if we could keep one of the kittens. I said yes, so we did. There were two females and two males in the litter.
We ended up actually keeping the two females, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my entire life. I brought the kittens home in May of 2023. I decided to keep their mom later on. I brought her over here in November of 2023.
They all went to the vet, got spayed, vaccinations, microchipped, flea and tick treatment, and dewormed. Being outside most of her life, the mom had to take antibiotics for a skin infection and was missing some hair.
All of her hair has grown back now, and she has become fully adjusted. She’s been through a lot, and it’s taken her months to find her way with us, but she’s come a long way.
At first, her daughters didn’t get along the best with her when I first brought her here, but they are all better with her now. The vet estimates that she is 4-5 years old.
She has been the best mom I’ve ever seen as a cat and was the true matriarch of the family she created. I actually still call her mom since she’s the mom of my cats, and I told her Happy Mother’s Day today.
I didn’t know that I would end up adopting her, but I made the decision when I realized that I didn’t want her to worry about anything anymore as a stray cat outside, I’ve come to love her, and I appreciate her so much + will be forever grateful to her for bringing my precious angels into the world who are my babies now.
I named her Layla Estelle because I couldn’t choose between the two names. Layla means night in Arabic. Estelle means star in French. Lucia and Nyx (My son named Nyx, which means Goddess of the night) are her daughters.

Because of my son, my mom, and my cats, Mother’s Day will always be so special to me and one of my favorites. I hope it’s beautiful for you, too.
